Mary Butterworth School - Dress Code
The Dress Code stands as a component of Mary Butterworth Schoolıs culture, which emphasizes academic, social, artistic and athletic excellence. The Dress Code is an important and valuable part of our program.
Appropriate Dress:
- Clothes are clean and in good repair, free of holes, tears, slashes
- Clothes are appropriate for the time of year and climate
- Slogans on all clothing are positive and appropriate for the school setting
- Midriffs and backs must be covered at all times; for girls, no visible cleavage
- Skirts and shorts are no shorter than half way between the knee and the inseam
- All items designated as underwear are kept under cover and see through shirts, skirts or pants are not permitted
- Head covers are to be worn for medical or religious reasons only
- Jewelry is limited and not distracting
- Outdoor jackets and coats are not to be worn in the school
Physical Education clothing includes any of the following: tracksuit, athletic shorts, sweat pants, T-shirt or sweatshirt. (Students are expected to have a change of clothes for Physical Education classes.) Running shoes are a requirement for every Physical Education class.
If a student arrives at school inappropriately dressed or groomed, a staff member will meet with the student to discuss what changes must be made to have him/her remain at school.
